If you want to gain command of your ego, you need to reduce its power. This will help you see more clearly, feel more grounded and make better decisions that are more in alignment with your life goals.

The ego likes to control us. After all, it is designed to protect us. Because we still have unhealed parts of ourselves, we may find times when we become defensive and angry when someone criticizes us. Our ego can even make us feel isolated from others. It’s safe to say that suffering always comes when we are controlled by our ego.

Instead of letting it control us, perhaps we should take the time to befriend our ego. Its commandeering ways cause us strife, but perhaps if we are kind and friendly to it, it will relinquish its control.

Ok, this blog probably has you shaking your head, thinking I’ve gone mad. Maybe you are even asking yourself questions like: How can I possibly befriend my ego when it is so elusive? Why on earth would I want to befriend my ego when it keeps me so off balance by building me up one moment and tearing me down the next? Why would I want to befriend anyone like my ego?  Why would I want to befriend that angry voice in me that screams, “Why me?” when something bad happens?

Well, good news. I have some answers for you as to why you should befriend your ego. For instance, you simply cannot get rid of your ego. It will leave when it is ready – and not until you befriend it.
